Hall for Cornwall: Return of the Legends
This tour has now finished but they already have dates for their next tour released, The Legends in Vegas.
Strictly Come Dancing is a huge part of many people's lives in the UK. It has brought dance in to homes across the country in a way it just wasn't before. While ball room and latin may not appeal to the youngest and coolest of us, I think Strictly has contributed to the popularisation of all forms of dance. It's been going since 2004 and has seen many stars come and go and had it's fair share of controversy over the years.
There are dancers who became huge parts of the show and retain their loyal fans, so that even though they are reaching their 50s, people still want to see them perform. They still have star quality. Five of these stars have come together to form the Legends. These are Vincent Simone (King of the Argentine Tango, short Italian, great eyebrows), Ian Waite (very tall, amazing legs and openly gay), Pasha Kovalev (all round nice guy), Brendan Cole (Kiwi, original cast member, bit of a fiery bad boy), James Jordan (Married to Ola, proper bad boy, still a bad boy).
While some of the dance stars of Strictly may not have much charisma and stage presence, these five still have it. They know how to put on a show and people come to see them, as much as the dancing. They still have all the technique, honed over many years. They are still phenomenally fit. Of course the dancing is not up to their competition days, if it were, they would still be competing for world championships. But, its popular and it's good fun and it's a great show. Its nice to hear them talk about the shows they were in that we remember watching.
I have seen a number of Strictly based shows and this is the one that we buy good tickets for. It's the one we already have tickets for the next tour. If you are a fan of these dancers, you know what you are going to get and you get exactly that. Highlights always have to be seeing Vincent do the Argentine Tango and I also really enjoyed the cowboy number. It wasn't perfect dancing, Brendan may have had a slight wardrobe malfunction and Vincent may have slipped a little, but it really doesn't matter, we want to see them more than we want perfection.
